In this project, we had the opportunity to intervene in an apartment in the Casa Esteve Recolons, an iconic building designed in the early 20th century by Master Builder Pere Bassegoda i Mateu.

The intervention consisted of a change of use, transforming the office space into a residence while preserving the characteristic façade and structural elements of this modernist building.

During the renovation works, we discovered that previous interventions had removed all the original moldings. To recover part of the architectural essence of the area, we chose to expose the "volta catalana," achieving a free height of 3.50 meters that provides a great sense of spaciousness and brightness to the space. Regarding the hydraulic mosaic, we found that it was in very poor condition and it was impossible to fully restore it. However, we managed to preserve a small section, which we framed at the entrance as a rug, thus highlighting the history and character of the home.
